...you Atlantans have not one but two opportunities to witness Kevin Dunn in person this weekend -- for free!
On Friday, May 21st, at 6pm, Dunn will be doing a solo performance at the legendary Wax'n'Facts shop in Little Five Points. It's where we bought our office copies of Billy Bremner's Bash and that weird David Thomas live album where he's singing with just bassoon and drums. We love the place. Kevin's solo shows are really engaging -- not just a guy and a guitar. Expect dizzying loops, effects, songs, improvisations, and surprises. But if expect surprises, are they still surprises? Only one way to find out.
On Sunday, May 23rd, at 4pm, Kevin's full-band will back him for a full-length set at Decatur CD on Ponce in Decatur. Decatur CD is a relatively new shop, and is a wonderful place to buy CDs. Amazing jazz selection. The last time we went, our bill went quickly into the three figures. Great selection, great prices -- imports, rarities, indie stuff, reissues. Whatever you want, they got. Warren and company do an amazing job. Plenty of free parking, too, which is nice! Warren is also doing a drawing to win a rare 45 by Kevin's legendary new wave band the Fans! Get there early and sign up!
